| Raj writes "Hello,My name is Raj Antony Vattakunnel and I had a question regarding storing SQL Server 7.0 backups on to a NAS backup. For our backup strategy, I backup the databases on to a NAS storage system and then my co-worker backups it on to tape when he does his full OS backups. Now, is there anything that we need to be aware of when doing something like that. ie. will be there be any data corruption for storing on to a NAS storage? PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT A MICROSOFT ARTICLE: http://support.microsoft.com/directory/article.asp?ID=KB;EN-US;Q304261&The reason we want to do it is because my co-workers before me put the backups on to the same server as the production server, even though it has a RAID 5 disk array. I wanted to change that and put the backups on a separate machine in a separate location altogether for any possible disaster recovery scenario. Thanks and looking forward to your reply,Raj Antony vattakunnel817-212-2515" |

| Your can back your dbs to NAS just fine. That MS article you referenced does not apply since it talks about placing the actual database files (as opposed to backup devices) on the NAS. |
