I copied 2 databases from a 2005 environment and tried to restore them in a 2008 environment. One was restored successfully. The other, I received the error "Specified cast not valid". What is this problem and how do I overcome it?

Thanks in advance.

You got that error when you restored or when you ran a query? Please explain in more detail.

I got the error when I did the restore database command (GUI, not script) as soon as I chose a from location.

Try RESTORE DATABASE instead then. I rarely use the GUI.
