I am using a stored procedure to collect data from a remote server using openrowset 'SQLOLEDB'. But the problem is that sometimes the data collection takes place and sometimes it fails with the following error:

TCP Provider: Timeout error [258]. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 258) OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "(null)" returned message "Login timeout expired". [SQLSTATE 01000] (Error 7412) OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "(null)" returned message "Unable to complete login process due to delay in login response". [SQLSTATE 01000] (Error 7412) OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "(null)" returned message "Invalid connection string attribute". [SQLSTATE 01000] (Error 7412). The step failed.,01:40:38,16,7412,,,,0

check the performance of query in remote server first and try to optimise it to execute faster
Also you can change the timeout value in linked server properties to avoid this issue, but it should be last option
