I was told to make a local copy of my db to permit backups. Please tell me exactly what a 'Local Copy' is. I have db backups in my maintenance plan. I also copy to a test db.

What you were told doesn't make sense. Ask the person that told you that what they mean.

Thanks for responding. Upon further inquiry, he was referring to the maintenance plan db backup file I already create so that he can set the Tivoli to back that up to a different location.

So essentially the idea is just to make a backup of the backup offsite. Sounds like a DRP strategy to me.
