I've created a long query and update item and saved it as .SQL, I want to be able to send it to a college to run against his DB, but I don't really want him mucking with my statements and insterts. Is there a way to give him the .SQL (or some other form) , have it run but not be seen?

nope. not possible. .sql will contain actual code so he will be able to see it.

if you dont want to expose the code execute the code in db. then backup and send it across to friend for restoring it. you may choose to encrypt code if you want

Encryption is weak though, so if your friend wants to unencrypt your work, e.g. to "steal" it, he can.

We take all the spaces, comments, etc. out of our code on client systems just to further hamper people wanting to steal out code. You could obfuscate local variable names by changing them to something non-obvious.

Downside is: All those things make it much harder to debug your code, on the target system, if you need to ...

Depends how much trouble you want to go to really.
