Hi all,

i would like to know if i have 100 user through program to access my SQL sever and i have 2 programmer using SQL server management studio.



How many cal i need ?

if i setup the program (like airline booking ticket) is for public user (web site). At the situation, I unable to know how many user will access and then how many cal i needed ?

102 = 100 users + 2 developers.

In the case of an app being exposed on the public internet you'll need to license per processor.

Thanks for your guy answer.

Any other ideas for reduce the SQL server 2008 CAL problem. Like using edition sql server web or sql server work group because we just have limited budget only.

If you don't need the higher-end features you can go for the lower editions, they are cheaper. Web is processor license only, it's intended as a backend for a web site. That said, the point remains. You need user CALs for anyone accessing the SQL Server or processor licensing if you're exposing the app on the public internet
