| The first thing I've noticed about working with SQL is there is not much structure. Example, you can throw everything on one long line. Or there seems to be many different ways to you write your SELECT statements. The more code I look at the more different ways it seems there is to code.Is there a really good SQL editing tool that formats your code for you in an easy to read display? Or is it always like VBScript within Notepad.exe? Thanks. |

I find this hilarious, as SQL stands for Structured Query language. SQL is no different from C/C++/C#/Java/JavaScript or many other languages that have a command separator like the semicolon. "Structure" is not the same thing as "syntax".And yes, there are many SQL formatting tools available. I believe the new Data Tools in SQL 2012 will format for you, if not, Redgate and some other vendors have code formatting products. |
