First thanks to anyone who can offer help :). I am working on a new server config for a client and hitting a wall. It 2008 r2 all updated. Working great. Trying to install SQL 2005. It gives the warning to isntall the SP3 after install. Problem is it wont complete a full install. Fails trying to start the sqlserver service. Tried a bunch of different accounts, various settings. I am sure i am just missing somthing????

Thanks
Josh

I believe you need to install lower versions first

The failing SQLServer Service is after the attempted SP3 install? If that is the case then something may have been corrupted. Confirm the install isn't labelled as 'installed' in add/remove programs.
