We have a table that has 21 million records. There are indexes set up on this table. However I'm worried about the size (it's only getting larger as it is a stats hit table with a date time stamp used for compiling stats by date). What's the best way to optimize this huge table and is there a reason to be concerned about the ever-increasing size? It's been 6 years since these stats were started.
Thanks in advance

21 million rows isn't a large table. I wouldn't at all be concerned about that size. If your table is properly indexed and stats are updated regularly, then you should be good to go.

We receive millions of rows of data per day.

Yes, the key word there is "properly". Are there any caveats when indexing tables?

The main caveat is that they slow down inserts, updates, and deletes. So be sure your system can handle that. Just a few indexes shouldn't slow it down enough to notice, but if you add a ton of them, then be sure to load test it.
