I am 5.5 years exp and currently working on ERP. Very eager to work as a SQL server DBA. Hence planning for a line shift. Can any one advice on this regard. Do's and Dont's

Ask questions and get experience.
Work with someone who knows what they are doing.
Learn sql, how the optimiser works and internal structures.
Don't do anything without getting someone to review it for the first few years.
Check even the simplest things and don't think that two systems are similar.
Working on a small system where you have freedom is different from a large system with controls - oddly, often the controls add risk and make the system more difficult to maintain.

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
SSIS can be used in a similar way.
Beer is not cold and it isn't fizzy.
