We have 2 six core processors however in management studio when I go to properties and click on processors it only shows processors 0-7. It should be showing 0-11. Any ideas? |

What edition of SQL Server 2008 are you using? See this page that describes the compute capacity of the different editions. From what you described it seems like you should be able to use 12 cores, but take a look at that page to see if that helps at all. |

We have 2008 SQL. Looks like it is a BIOS issue as device manager shows only 8 cores and not 12. I know this isnt an SQL question now but any idea how to get Server 2008 R2 SP1 to recognize all 12 cores instead of 8. |

Potentially a BIOS issue. Consider updating the BIOS. Is your BIOS displaying everything properly?Jack Vamvas--------------------http://www.sqlserver-dba.com |
