| We have 2 DB servers in the same workgroup: DB1 (live) and DB2 (backup). There is a job to backup the dbs on DB1 directly to DB2's shared folder. It works - but now it's slow down after the whole PC is reinstalled!! :-o This process is used to take about 1 hour (~14GB files), but now this process takes more than 10 hours on the same hardware!!! Why? We had to reinstall the OS and the SQL Servers too, but nothing else is changed...! Any idea? Thanks for your help! GangstaBoygangsta@maffia.hu |

Well, my guess is that you are wrong about that....When backing up over a LAN, you are always at the mercy of the LAN throughput. Maybe your NIC isn't configured to fully utilize the bandwidth.<O> |

| Check all your drivers are upto date and your NIC's are fixed at 100 MB rather than autosensing. Are both servers on the same switch ? Any network changes ?HTHJasper Smith |
