Hello,

SQL 2008 R2
Active Directory 2008

I've setup a couple of AD groups (Global Security) and I have added them as SQL Logins and mapped them to specific databases with dbo permission.

I added a user to the AD groups but he cannot connect to the database via SSMS or ODBC.

Any ideas?

Regards,
Terry

We'll need the error.

What error message is the user getting? What do you see in the event logs?

Yep - The error message would help ... duh.

I did figure it out. I can't say what caused the problem but it is fixed. I deleted the SQL Login (domain\dbo_group) and added it back exactly like it was and now it works. I did the same for both groups.

The error was

Login failed for user 'domain\user'. Reason: Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure error. Check for previous errors. [CLIENT: ip address]

Thanks all!!
Terry

That sounds like a failed connection -- a network error. Couldn't connect to the domain controller.
