We are in the process of migrating from Rackspace (managed/dedicated hosting) to AWS. One of the options we are considering as an interim step is to keep the database at Rackspace and migrating our clients on the web side one at a time. Then once they are all migrated on the web side we can move the database. I won't get into the reasons why moving all 500 clients at once isn't an attractive option but each one has configurations that make it very complex. My concern surrounds latency of have the web servers in AWS and the database server in Rackspace. Aren't most SQL Azure architectures remote setups like this? Does anyone have any experience with this setup?I have actually set it up and it does work. Seems reasonably snappy but it isn't under load. |
