We are in the process of migrating sharepoint/ms project databases from cluster to vm. We will move whole database instance. Our plan is to move databases to new instance with same instance name but different computer name. Once databases moved there and setup logins, jobs etc. we will take that resource group offline on cluster and create DNS entry for new server. So that anyone trying to connect to old machine will be redirected to new server. Since instance name is name there should be no issue for sql. For normal databases instances thats work. But in case of Sharepoint and MS Project does that work without any issue?

Thanks
