| Hinew to the forum, 2 out of 5 grade SQL experience. Here is my question:In our customer service database we have a field with free text input where an agent can write:Got "error 1", looked into \\server\data\test.ini The field is stored into a varchar(max) field but occasionally we get strange errors that most likely are caused by a combination of the special characters " \ ', but we could not put our finger on the exact cause. What field type is suggested for this kind of data? Thanks |

| the problem may be the way you use the data rather than storing it. varchar(max) doesnt seem to be cause for this.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------SQL Server MVPhttp://visakhm.blogspot.com/ |
