Just restore as per normal. No special treatment is required. It will be automatically converted to the 2008 version.However, the reverse is not possible. You can't restore a 2008 backup on a 2005.

| Hi Khtan We have faced this issue while restoring SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008 Resore failed for the serverSystem.Data.sqlclient.sqlError:Exclusive acess could not be obtained because the database is in use (Microsoft.Sqlserver.smo)sridhar |

| Can you drop this database, restore it all fresh again to see if you get the same error message. Ideally, it won't. |
