Hi,
I have to restore DB into New Production server 2008 and we have 2008R2 installed.
I would like to know what will be the ideal setting for Log file set up?

I have Data File, Log File and Temp DB on seperate Disk drive.
I have set up the Data File Initial Size: 100 GB - Growth - 5 GB as total Daat File Drive has 1 TB Capacity.
I am little confused for Log file as We have Replication Subscription will be running on that DB and it will total size of the DB is 300 GB Plus.
Replication will run frequently as well as couple batch job running.
If I set up Log File: 50 GB - Growth - 1 GB as my total Log file drive is configured - 100 GB.

Thanks and appreciate your response!

This isn't something we can answer for you as it depends on many factors that you'll need to test. For instance, index rebuilds, replication, large transactions, anything that impacts the tlog.

Some systems can get away with an ldf that's 10% the size of the mdf, others 50%, others 100%, still others over 100%.

So it depends is the answer. You'll need to test.

Thanks Tara.
Our Replication runs frequently, weare not runnign Index Rebuild regularly but planning to run as a weekly job.
If you can give some rough idea to start that will be great.
If I set up Log File: 50 GB - Growth - 1 GB as my total Log file drive is configured - 100 GB, will impact any performance?

Thanks

I can't give a rough estimate. You will need to test it.

The size of the transaction log file doesn't impact performance. The autogrowths will though.
