| Hi All,I have created a backup for the sql server 2008 database.and this I have done in the remote server.So when I checked for the backup I have created in the folder,its not having .bak extension only it have is extension name as file. What is the possibility that its showing wrong? and when I sent that to anyone,the person who is restoring the backup,is not being able to do that.Please help..Thanks In advance. |

| The file extension doesn't matter. If your Windows Explorer isn't hiding the extension, then the backup file was created without it. This is a problem with whatever ran the backup. I created through ,rightclick database- tasks-- backup-full database- selected the folder for backup -created the file name- And ok..the task completed successfully. |

The person who opened the backup file ,got it as a dat file.. He didn't say there was some error.The only thing he told is he couldn't do anything with that file. |
