| We are in the process of planning to migrate databases from SQL 2000 to SQL 2008. What's the best option to approach this with little downtime? Users would like to have access to the data on the SQL 2008 server to continue with their testing before the cut over. The only option that I can think of will be transaction replication. Any other ideas? Thank you1. Backup and t-log restore2. Transactional replication-Ted |

Hi Jack, and thank you for your response. Backup and restore would work but we would like to run both environments side by side and compare data. In terms of downtime, we haven't decided on that yet but I'm sure 4 - 6 hours. Would replication not work? |
