I have SQL Server 2005 installed per proc, I am upgrading it (side-by-side) to 2012. They have already converted the cores. I will be running production DBs on both servers while they are moved over. Eventually, when they are all moved, the old server will be decommed. My question is, how long do I have to move database from 2005 to 2012 on new hardware without buying a new license? I can't find a single bit of evidence to support my scenario. |

You will need to contact Microsoft for that answer. I would bet that they'll say you'll need to license both servers unless the period of time is short, like a month. Your Microsoft rep will be able to answer that.Tara KizerSQL Server MVP since 2007http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/ |
