| bernie writes "(Tough question - for me, at least it is)I've gone thru the Books Online, this website, SQL administration book, etc., but all there is about auditing seems to be from the perspective of a DBA. I'm an auditor and would like to know how we can capture activities of the DBA e.g. when he or she grants a role, updates a table, creates/drops a user, etc.. Somewhat similar to the statement or privilege audit_options available in Oracle. My DBA says there isn't such a feature in SQL, and I dunno what sort of triggers we can build to achieve the same objective of being able to detect any unauthorised activities of a DBA for critical databases. Any suggestions please? THanks. " |

| SQL Profiler can capture these events, though not all of them in enough detail for your purposes, and it is mainly a performance monitoring tool. See Books Online for more details. Also look at products from Red Gate and Lockwood Tech:http://www.red-gate.com/http://www.lockwoodtech.com/ |
