I have a full backup made at 5:30 PM yesterday. Overnight an automated job posted some bad transactions. I have hourly transaction log backups made beginning at 6:00 AM this morning. Can I -1. Restore the full backup2. Begin restoring the transaction logs beginning with the 7:00 AM backup?I don't care about any transactions in the 6:00 AM backup. Here's a picture of what my backup contains.http://1drv.ms/1wsiwOG |

That is not possible. The transaction log backups are a chain. You can't skip any after the full or differential base. Why is there a several hour gap in tlog backups at night? I've never understood that strategy. Regardless of activity at night, I'm of the opinion that the frequency shouldn't change.Tara KizerSQL Server MVP since 2007http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/ |

Agreed. We actually increase the frequency during the night, whilst index rebuilds are running, because they are more likely to fill up the LOG file faster than any "normal" transactions during the day |
