Can someone explain how to obtain the sql mapi profile necessary for sql server.
If you have an existing outlook account can you look it up?
How much work does it require on the Exchange Server end of things?

What is needed to setup pager notifications is it a matter of getting a service provider and just emailing the right account or does Exchange server require modifications for paging?

Found a nice step by step for setting up the mapi profile.

Still looking for an answer on the pager notifications?

Well here is what we did to setup the pager notification at my job:

Created an operator called dba and assigned it's e-mail address to the pager's e-mail address. Now all that you have to do is point your jobs to this operator.

This assumes that the pager can receive alpha messages.

So if it's just like a regular e-mail address why not set it up under the email address of the operator? Is it just so you can have two email accounts notified?

That's what I meant although my post didn't explain it well enough.

Our operator is actually an e-mail group, so two DBAs get paged when jobs fail. Only one of us has to respond (dependent on who is on-call) but both of us know about it.
