kailash writes "I am using SQL Server 2000 on Windows 2000 Preofessional. When I go to Sql Server Group and clicked on New Sql Server Registration, and select one particular IP address among available servers IP ,and click on Next 3 times and click on Finish and try to register, I get a message saying "My machine name - SQL Server does not exist or access denied. ConnectionOpen(Connect())" .

And from other machine i am able to register for the same IP address. So is this a machine specific problem ?
Or something to do with the access permissions??

Any Ideas ?? "

Are you able to ping that IP address? The error message that you specified is a communication problem. If you can not get it to work, create an alias in the Client Network Utility.
