1. What in particular about SQL Server are you writing ?

2. What will differentiate your book from all the other SQL Server books ?

3. How much have you done ?

4. What parts have you decided to ask for assistance with and why ?

These are some of the questions that I would encourage anyone to want very good answers for before embarking on a project like this.

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
DTS can be used in a similar way.

Thanks Damian for your taking interest and posting some good questions. Here are the replies:

1. What in particular about SQL Server are you writing?
Reply: The book is on SQL Server 2000 Administration.

2. What will differentiate your book from all the other SQL Server books?
Reply: The differentiator will be the instructional approach and the treatment of the content. The plan is to come up with an innovate approach, which offers the advantages of different instructional approaches in a blended form. The book also has many other supporting elements, such as online technical expert.

The book will also give the reader enough of lab practice, where the endeavor will be to get the reader very close to the practical job-world. This will be a one-off book in the SQL Admin category.

3. How much have you done?
Reply: As of today, I am in the process of finalizing the instructional strategies and the design of the book. The actual authoring is yet to start.

4. What parts have you decided to ask for assistance with and why?
Reply: 50% of the book. The parts can be mutually decided.
The reasons I am asking for co-authoring are:
a) This book requires expertise/thoughts of more than one experts.
b) The timeline for publishing this book demands more than a pair of hands.

Note: I'm willing to pay the co-author for the effort.

Thanks,
Deep
