If you actually look in Control Panel>Services you should see that the SQL Service has actually started. Your best bet is to reinstall the latest version of MDAC (with all your SQL Services stopped) from [url]http://www.microsoft.com/data/download_270RTM.htm[/url]

I got that before. I think some DLL versions are out of synch. Don't know what exactly though because I just uninstalled and reinstalled.

I have never gotten that error before on SQL Server, but I have got it on other applications. A reinstall of the application has worked most of the time for me (although once I had to rebuild the machine to fix it).
