Leon writes "Hi guys,

I have major problems when trying to reinstall my copy of SQL 2000 Personal edition on my Windows XP professional laptop. I already had SQL 7 and SQL 2000 running alongside each other but I decided to take both of them off, and reinstall SQL 2000 only. When I removed the program I was asked if I want to leave some dll files created by SQL 2000 that would not harm my computer if left alone, so I selected the 'No to All' option.
My problem is that when I am trying to reinstall SQL 2000, I am getting error messages during the setup process refering to;

'sqlredis.exe- Application Error- The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000006)'

'PRFTemplates.exe- Application Error- The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000006)'

'Setup- Cannot read the specified file. Correct the problem and restart setup. File:D\x86\setup\..\Repostry\dbsacn.dll'

I have tried several methods to rectify the problem; deleting default and named instances in the registry, using the registry rebuild option in the advanced options of setup, but all to no avail. The frustrating thing is that I had it up and working before, and now it doesn't want to reinstall!
Please help, I am a final year student at university and I need to have this version of SQL 2000 up and running before I begin building an e commerce application based on RDBMS and XML. I hope I have provided you guys with enough information to help .

Thanking you in advanced

Leon Watson"

Try manually uninstalling SQL Server. You probably have part of the software installed and that's why you can't reinstall it.

To manually uninstall SQL 7.0:

To manually uninstall SQL 2k:
