| Gyorgy writes "I have installed SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 3 on a server without SP 2 and I observed a serious slow down of the activity - the simptom is the same when the indexes are not rebuilt. I have checked this, but there is no problem with the indexes. Did anyone observe a lower performance after SP 3 installation on a SQL Server 2000? And what could be the problem? Thanks in advance.GyuriPS This phaenomen (slowing down) was observed on other servers too (with Service Pack 2 installed before) after SP 3 Setup (but I can't verify if there are the same simptoms)" |

| Keep in mind that service pack 3 is cumulative, which means that it includes service pack 2 already so even though you never installed it, it's already there.Another poster is having the same problem, so you might consider going back to service pack 2 and just installing the latest security patch. Both service pack 3 and service pack 2 with the latest security patch protect you from the SQL slammer. |
