| As far as laws go, it may vary from state to state, but generally speaking it is understood by most employees that their computer use at work is monitored, unless they've been living under a rock in Tibet for the last 7 years or so. Besides, any company that willfully conceals such a program is gonna face more problems than if they told everyone outright, so they are more likely to be upfront about it. It's so much easier to tell everyone and fire them if they breach the rules, no one can then claim "I didn't know!"BTW, what does this have to do with SQL Server anyway? You'll probably find an answer faster if you put your question into Google or visit LawMeme.Forgot to add that "ethics" has nothing to do with it. The company is obligated to prevent harassment of their employees, which in turn protects the company from lawsuits by "harassed" employees. If they have to snoop on someone's porn or MP3 surfing at work, oh well. And if you or someone else is upset or concerned about this policy, good luck finding a company that doesn't monitor.Edited by - robvolk on 03/29/2003 16:40:47 |
