Chris writes "Hello,

We are trying to move our dedicated SQL Server 2000 (on Win2K Server, SP1) machines from one C block of IP addresses to another C block, though they will remain in the same domain. The original IP of the box when SQL Server was installed was:

IP Address 63.166.116.xxx
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.192

and then we bound a second IP address to the server (the new IP block):

IP Address 206.61.99.xx
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0

SQL Server will not respond to remote requests via Enterprise Manager, Query Analyzer, etc. when we configure the local client network utility to use the new IP address. If we configure the local client network utility to use the original IP address, it works fine.

Any ideas? In a nutshell, it seems that SQL Server will not respond to any remote request on any IP address we bind to the machine other than the original IP address when SQL Server was installed, at least not via any of the management tools that come with SQL Server. We even tried removing the original IP address, but no luck.

Argh! We need to relinquish our original IP addresses ASAP, and SQL Server won't cooperate. Any help with this would be VERY much appreciated, as it's driving us crazy.

Thanks in advance,
Chris Page
