Hi,

I'm wondering if it is possible to make a computed column
a fixed one?

Having a computed column even inserting it ( the data) into
another table doesn't seem to make that column fixed on the new table.

Does the computed column keep its definition when a new table is created and values are inserted from source table?

Thx,

Dobby

Hi

I don't suppose you tried any of this stuff youself ? Best way to learn.

You can not alter a computed column. Your best bet might either to make a duplicate table :

Select *
Into NewTable
From OldTable

Which will only copy values. Or you could add a column to your table, copy the values into it, then drop your computed one. Then recreate a column with the same name, update it with the values and drop your holding one.
