I have a backup job on SQL Server 2000. It runs every midnight. I can know the database is backuped last night by looking at the timestamp of the backup file. But the job history is not logged. I can only see the job history of three days ago. The only thing happened on that box is we installed a OLAP Analysis service and then uninstalled it. Any idea why it doesn't the job history? Thanks,George

Is the message that the BACKUP completed listed in the SQL Server Error log? Job history is stored in msdb.dbo.sysjobhistory. Check if there is a record for your backup. If not, then investigate permissions. I would also ensure that the job is enabled and scheduled. You can do this by looking at the job properties or you can look at msdb.dbo.sysjobs and msdb.dbo.sysjobschedules.Tara

I guess in 6.5, i observed the same behavior. If I remember correctly DBCC CHECKIDENT('sysjobhistory') fixed my prob.

Ah 6.5, the good ol' days. Back in 6.5 it was much harder for a non-DBA to pretend to be a DBA than it is now.Tara
