| Mike writes "Can we update a database from Sql Server 7.0(standard) to Sql Server to Sql Server 2000(standard) by - Creating a database of the same name on Sql Server 2000 - Scripting all objects on the 7.0 version - Running the resulting script on the 2000 version - DTS the table information from the 7.0 version to the 2000 version. It looks like we cannot/are unwilling to upgrade all 30 databases at the same time.We are wanting to take advantage of Windows 2003 server ability to mirror the databases between two servers for High Availibility and load balancing.Apparently we need to upgrade to SQL 2000 for this to happen. The reason driving the upgrade is the high availibity of being able to switch to the mirrored server." |

| You could do it that way, but its about the most painful way to go about it. Detaching from 7.0 and attaching to 2000 will upgrade the database for you. So will backing up on 7.0 and restoring on 2000.Jeff Banschbach, MCDBA |
