Ive made a package that installs MSDE on win 98 machine, everything is fine and happy, BUT when i reboot ive noticed MSDE doesnt auto start, i dont want to have to write an app to start it everytime, im sure i read somewhere there is something you can put in your registry to start it each time?, does anyone know what this is? shot

Can't you just open the SQL Service Manager and check "autostart"? I don't have any W9x computers to check but this works on W2K/XP with MSDE 1.0 and MSDE2000
