Alexander writes "I install MSDE 2000 by using the setup.exe that comes with MSDE 2000 folder and by specifying the setup.ini parameters.
Everything goes fine in many machines (Win9x and 2000 and XP), and MSDE won't ask to restart the PC. However many machines as well when installing the MSDE 2000, it ask the user that it needs to be reinstalled, Even if I select "NO" to restart, it still restart. When restarting the PC, my wise installaiton package get screw up because it was interrupted.

My questions:

Why sometimes MSDE 2000 ask to restart?
Can I tell in advance whether the MSDE 2000 will be asking for reboot, if yes, I may prevent My installaiton error because I will make the installaiton aware of the reboot.
Propably there is a file or registery key that I can searc for and found out whether the MSDE will be asking for reboot or not.

Thanks"

If you're using the msi installer for MSDE and the target computer needs to update the Windows Installer before installing MSDE, that usually causes a reboot, and is one condition that will cause a reboot on some machines and not others.
