On a fresh Windows 2000 server, I installed Sql Server 2000 (standard edition). On reboot I got an "Ordinal 31 could not be located in dynamic link library odbc32.dll" error. Just trying to access the service manager invokes the same error, and it will not come up.Suspecting that maybe the service pack would upgrade ODBC, I installed sp3a. That did not help. I downloaded MDAC 2.7 SP1 refresh and tried installing it. Still have the problem. My pc is at Windows 5.0 sp4. I have sent to ask SQLTeam, but have no response. Please send responses to mrock@kanawha.com.Thanks

Yes, I did check Google, and saw the 301, and did followup with the MDAC reinstall, but no help. I did not find anything at Microsoft on this. I just removed Sql Server 2000, rebooted, and did not receive the message. Reinstalled MDAC 2.7 SR1 REFESH, not problem on boot. Reinstalled Sql Server 2000, rebooted, and again the problem.

What is MDAC 2.7 REFRESH?If reinstalling MDAC does not work, then you might have to rebuild the machine. Have you tried just replacing odbc32.dll? I've never done it with that file, but for other files it has worked.Tara
