You can execute master.dbo.xp_fixeddrives to determine the amount of free disk space on each logical partition.

We use Compaq Insight Manager in our non-High Availability environment to alert us when the amount of free disk space drops below 20%. In our High Availability environment, we use Microsoft MOM, which is an awesome tool.
