| What is the requirement here (how is this even SQL Server related)? Why don't you just create a group on the domain, then send the message to the group? We did that for thresholds at one customer site.Tara |

Because you might want to send an alert when a job fails. Settle Tara Creating a group was actually my first thought, but I didn't think you could send to just a group. That would be ideal.Otherwise, you can use xp_cmdshell to send them from TSQL like this :Exec xp_cmdshell 'net send username "Hi There"'You can do that many times in a TSQL script (even in a loop if you want to REALLY annoy co-workers in fun office games ).Damian |

True, but why not just use the job notifications then? You could setup an operator that contains multiple users and then send the message to the operator.quote: Originally posted by Merkin Creating a group was actually my first thought, but I didn't think you could send to just a group. We did it at a customer site, but I can't remember how and I do not have access to their network anymore to check what we did.Tara |
