If I called a shrink file from Enterprise Manager, and it's taking too long, can I cancel it? Last time I tried to cancel a query it really messed things up.Should I just wait it out? We are shrinking a 8GB database to 4GB, without reordering the pages.Michael<Yoda>Use the Search page you must. Find the answer you will.</Yoda>

Yes you can cancel it. I cancelled one recently that had been running for over an hour. It was shrinking a 130GB database down to 100GB. We decided to wait until later that day to kick it off again.Killing the process will take just a second or two.Tara

Do you suggest killing Enterprise Manager, or issuing a KILL on the SPID in Query Analyzer?Michael<Yoda>Use the Search page you must. Find the answer you will.</Yoda>
