| I have a database that's about 47GB right now. Of that, about 4GB is free space, so it's really just under 43GB.I have one very large table in the DB, it uses up 16GB from data, 11GB from statistics (yeah, I am working on that one, too), and 6GB of indexes. So that's about 33GB.All of the other tables in the DB have a few thousand rows in them, the biggest is about 40MB, and there are maybe 30 tables total in the DB, most of which are less than 10MB.So 33GB + 40MB + some fudge factor for the other tables = ~35GB (that's a lot of fudge).WTF? Why is my database showing 43GB used? Where can I look to figure out what might be using more or less than what sp_spaceused tells me? Are there hidden places for space to reside?Oh yeah, and I already ran DBCC UPDATEUSAGE. |

| It is possible that your numbers are not accurate due to inconsistencies in sysindexes. Have you run DBCC UPDATEUSAGE recently to corrent the inconsistencies?Tara |
