I am new to SQL so forgive my ignorance. I am a IS Coordinator for the state and have found myself now a DB admin....when a year ago I couldnt even SPELL "D-B". Anyway I am running a database in SQL 2000 that is accessed by the folks I support via a web piece. Some fo the operations access the database and open an instance of word for a mwege from the database. All of this was working quite smoothly until I upgraded all my users to Office 2003. Now, when one of these apps needing to open a word merge doc is used, the user has to rediscover the datasource. The database is password protected, so, when asked, I tell SQL to allow saving passwords and make the data connection. But after the word doc is completed and closed the data connection is lost and this will have to be done again....and again...and again...I have looked over MS technology database but cant find anything there, and was hoping some of you SQL guru's could hook me up.Once again, forgive my ignorance and/or lack of correct terminology. Feel free to email me with any suggestions and any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!Herculeric

The reason why this has gone unanswered is because this isn't a SQL Server problem. It's a problem with the client and not with the database server. Not what's wrong with the client, I don't know, but I do know that it isn't SQL Server. Have you considered rolling back Office 2003?Tara
