John writes "We have several SQL7 servers on military installations which will probably be upgraded to sql2k because of its c2 compliance.

Most of the clients connect through the internet using tcp net lib on port 1433. All users who connect now have sql user accounts only. All works great except for occasional firewall issues at some bases. We need to change our protocol to a more secure one (CNO Mandate) and also change the port to a higher range port. We were considering multiprotocol but most accounts are on other networks so creating domain account on the NT server will be impossible. I guess I could create a local server account for all sql users but will this work and satify what is nessasary for multiprotocol to work well?

What is the best way to set this up?

What would be the best solution in this situation?

HELP !!!

John"
