| Atlast, the tape drives have been delivered! Hi Elwoos, there is still hope, our netadmins cooperated with me this time. My approach? I drew the line between a dba and a netadmin, they probably got scared if disaster will hit us and they're unprepared.Anyways,What do I need to check: Here's my setup,I have one tape drive installed on one server and this server acts as a remote backup machine.Question: 1. What do I need to check?2. How do I set file archiving (backup and delete) based on their date of last modified/created?3. Is there a way to program the "archiving process"? Is this the same as xcopy, i'm a sucker for automation (i should change my alias to LazyDBA, lolz) |

| We really need some more information if we are to help. What is your disaster recovery goal? Are you setting up backup routines for the entire network or just the SQL Server? What is your acceptable failure time? What is your acceptable recovery time? What is your plan for minor, major and catastrophic failures? Maybe I missed all this in a previous post and if so I apologize. If you can answer the above questions we can walk you through setting up the backup process.Paul |
