Max writes "Well, I read all the sources I could on the subject...

I have set-up the domain account for the SQLAgent.
Wehn configuring mail it asks for a profile.
There are none on this server.

One way of getting the profile is installing OutLook.

The key issue: MS says in 266418 that it does not recommend installing Outlook on a box running Exchange.

Yet, SQL Mail requires a profile.

I have tried NewProf, but it requires a template to generate a new profile.

So what do I do in order to use SQL Mail functionality?

The set-up is:
SQL 8.00.760 SP3
Exchange 65. 6944.4
Server 2003 SP1

Thanks and regards,
Max"

You must install outlook on the SQL Server machine in order to create a profile and use built-in email functionality.

Alternatively, you can use 3rd party email solutions. Here is an article on one: http://support.microsoft.com/view/tn.asp?kb=312839
