I'm struggling with a concept (and the particulars) of a problem that I think is related to "Slowly Changing Dimensions." Here's a run-down of the setup. You have two teams, Red and Blue. And there are sales people which have team associations that occiasionally change. If, for example, Fred changes from Red to Blue at time t, then his sales should count towards Red's total sales up to time t, and at time t and after, his sales should count toward the Blue team's total sales. Assume that sales are logged in rows in a table, but team association is *not* logged here. Instead, there is a separate table that logs whenever someone changes teams (person, time, and new team is logged here). Finally, my question is, in MDX, how do I query for the total sales of the Red team in a certain time period? Thanks so much for taking the time to look this over. |
