Jim writes "A couple of months ago I installed SQL Server 2000 on a server and the client tools only on my workstation to test an application. Then today I decided to remove everything and run through the test again. I used the add/remove program control panel and I have the server side all removed and that part working fine. After removing the program from my workstation (windows xp sp1) I ran the install again, but now I get the error "A previous program installation created pending file operations on the installation machine. You must restart the computer before running setup. OK". I've restarted many times, tried deleting every registry key I could think of and following some Microsoft directions, I just can not get pass this message. Am I going to have to reimage my computer???

I think you need to use the windows installer cleanup utility. you can find it here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301

be careful with this tool though, you can really mess things up with this thing if you aren't careful.
