Hey all,

When you backup your sys db's to a device, do you use more syntax to overwrite any other data there of do you just have the following for example ? :

BACKUP DATABASE msdb TO backupDevice

To overwrite the existing backups on that device, add WITH INIT to your BACKUP command. Books Online details all of the backup options very thoroughly.

I backup my system DB's to 7 different backup files, one for each weekday, which get overwritten (WITH INIT).
