What a nice way to be dragged out of a project, and into the hurly-burly of production problems...

We are having 2 identifiable problems that may or may not be related.

Running SQL Server 2000 EE SP 3, on W2K 2000 SP 2, with an active/active cluster. 8 way box HP boxes.

We are seeing the following errors:
SQL LOGS:
Resource Manager Creation Failed: Result Code = 0x8004d01c

The Scheduler 3 appears to be hung. SPID 0, ECID 0, UMS Context 0x03EE66F8. ((this repeats several times, for different Scheduler's))

EVENT VIEWER:

[sqsrvres] printODBCError: sqlstate = 08S01; native error = 0; message = [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Communication link failure.

[sqsrvres] CheckQueryProcessorAlive: sqlexecdirect failed

Am trying to find out what is going on here... At the moment our cluster is being rebuilt (1 node done, but engineer's ran out of time in window, so they left other one ) so I don't think we are actually in a cluster mode at them moment. Our single server SQL died eaarlier today - *seems* ok now, but I have been informed by one of the server engineer's that he has been seeing the Scheduler problems for MONTHS !

Any help/plane tickets to somewhere else?

Damn - I handed back my decoder ring when I left the club at the last pace I was at, and hoped that I was going to be denied "club-membership" at the new place (according to Job spec, I work in DEV!!), but now I am getting hauled back into the club....

Thanks for the welcome Jen ... anyone have a handle on the problem, tho ?
