Once trans log size reaches max filesize, do oldest transactions "drop off" while newer ones are saved?

thx

You get an error if you do not expand it or set automatic expansion

If you use this setting make sure you backup your transaction logs frequently enough to reduce the size of the log.

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
DTS can be used in a similar way.

So what happens if the log file has no free entries?
quote:

The transaction log is a circular file i.e. when the end is reached any free entries at the start will be used.
This means that all being well the file will stay at a constant size as the current entry cycles round.

An error will occur until the problem has been corrected.
